ITALIAN DAY

A Group of our girls took up the opportunity to learn an italian themed dance routine to open an Italian Culture festival.

The girls had to overcome confidence issues to perform as well as learn certain words in italian to speak to the VIP guests.

ROYAL MARINE CAREERS

A mixed group of our teenagers went for a career experience day at the Royal Marines Naval Base in Portsmouth.  Youngsters experienced drill, professional skills, training knowledge and career option exposure.

Youngsters had to overcome anxiety about meeting members of the Royal Marines and the unknown environment.  They built the confidence to participate physically and verbally within professionally led sessions with members of the military services, people they had never been in contact with before.

PHYSICAL CHALLENGE CAMP

A large group of youngsters traveled to Suffolk to undertake 2 days of physical challenges at a scout camp site.  The youngsters undertook abseiling, climbing, crate stacking, caving and fire-building.  Nearly all the youngsters had to overcome physical and emotional barriers.

The youngsters came away with increased confidence not only with physical activities but also with social skills to work as a team and communicate better with other people of varied ages.

COOKING CONFIDENCE

A group of our older teenagers undertook the project to plan, budget, shop and cook safely a bbq for 40 other young people.

They planned menus, consulting dietary needs.  They costed up ingredients and sourced a local supermarket and transport to collect ingredients.

They undertook a food hygenie safety qualification and then learnt how to cook safely using a bbq.

The youngsters successfully served and fed everyone involved to host a wonderful evening!

The youngsters had to overcome lack of experience in budgeting, shopping, cooking and feeding people all of which they had never done before.
